We’ve updated the Adafruit Raspberry Pi Python library to be easier than ever to install and use. You can now use pip to install the library, and import one of our many modules and use them from anywhere.
Make sure you have pip installed (on debian it’s the ‘python-pip’ package), then just execute: pip install Adafruit_Libraries
Once you’ve done that you can easily import the specific module you’d like to use:
from Adafruit.I2C import Adafruit_I2C
Another example:
from Adafruit.BMP085 import Adafruit_BMP085
