Just got done brewing!

Here are a few more pictures.

The TMP36 sensor leads were isolated with electrical tape, then heat shrinked and sealed with black RTV silicone for moisture resistance.

The carboy sensor is taped to the side of the carboy and insulated with bubble wrap.  The Arduino code takes precautions against condenser short-cycles and temperature overshoots.

This is my first all-grain brew since 2007, and I’m happy to get back into the hobby with parts from Adafruit!  🙂

  1. Does this controller do warming and cooling?

    I built a similar device and bundled it up as a kit for fermentations. No datalogging, but it knows how to handle hot and cold based on the set point.

  4. Check out the BrewTroller and FermTroller open source projects. BrewTroller is a brewing control system for all-grain brewing that monitors temperature and volume off your HLT, mash and kettle and controls heating elements, valves and pumps. It also performs temperature and volume calculations for your recipes.

    FermTroller is a multi-zone dual stage temperature controller for fermentation. Both projects are based on the same hardware design and support a network interface for remote monitoring and control.

    We welcome additional contributions from developers who are interested in making the projects better.
