NEW PRODUCT – Electroluminescent (EL) Panel – Aqua – plus extras

Ela5Panel Lrg

NEW PRODUCT – Electroluminescent (EL) Panel – Aqua – plus extras. This is a big sheet of flexible plastic coated with EL material so its like one big glowing square. It emits an even aqua glow over the entire shape, and you can even cut it into any shape you want using scissors as long as the connector is still attached (you’ll probably need a few inches of the edge as well).

Measures 20 cm x 15 cm (7.9″ x 5.9″), about 0.5mm thick

Ela5Paneloff Lrg

Comes with a matching high power 12V inverter and a female DC jack so you can plug it directly into a 12V supply. (This panel is not going to run on our pocket inverter, you really need to have 12V!) The full panel draws about 210 mA from a 12V supply.

We love this, it’s almost magical :)

In stock and shipping’ now!

  1. Can this panel be laser cut with good results? I don’t trust myself with scissors.

  2. @glenn, this is not meant for laser cutting.

  3. Oh. boy!!

Instead of the usual “what do I need for this project” search for supplies, I now feel compelled to find a project to use this for!

  4. @glenn, If not directly in a laser, you could probably lasercut a sheet of thin vinyl, overlay it on the panel and cut with scissors.

  5. I must lack imagination because I can’t think of how you would use this. Can any one give an example of an application for this cool stuff?

  7. Would you be able to cut a design and sew onto an item or clothing?

  8. @dom, yes!

    Francois,

    (1) Cut small circles out and glue them to your retinas in order to scare the hell out of your cat.

    (2) Build an illuminator for your Kindle,or backlight an LCD.

    (3) Build a codpiece that you can place in flashing mode when you want to get someone’s attention.

    (4) Wallpaper your house with them and get rid of those stupid annoying CFLs.

    (5) Bury one under the litter in your cat’s litter box in order to scare the hell out of them again.

    (6) Put it in a frame and backlight a transparency.

    (7) Cut out a glowing Halloween pumpkin.

    (8) Backlight a stencil cut control panel.

    (9) Make a nightlight for your cat, who is now a nervous wreck, and needs the comfort.

    (10) Make a “telephone ringing” flashing panel for a deaf person.

    (11) Build an artistic tribute to phosphorescent marine life.

    (12) Make glowing, pulsing, scary shapes to hang in a tree at night outside your ex-girlfriend’s bedroom window.

    (13) Make yourself a glowing cape to go with your glowing codpiece.

    (14) Get a calligraphy Sharpie and make the first truly illuminated manuscript.

    (15) Carpet a path from your bedroom to the toilet for those late night trips.

    (16) Build an illuminated targeting reticle for your toilet to cut down on that lack of specificity your girlfriend keeps complaining about.

    (17) Glue them to clay pigeons for a little late night neighborhood shotgun practice.

    (18) Glue one to the roof of your mouth with a tilt switch for activation in preparation for your next trip to the dentist.

    (19) Illuminate your fish tank from the bottom.

    (20) Build a photonically levitated hover car.

Now, when you have done all 20 of these, if you still can’t come up with any ideas of your own, let us know, we’ve got a million of them :^)
