Stop breadboarding and soldering – start making immediately! Adafruit’s Circuit Playground is jam-packed with LEDs, sensors, buttons, alligator clip pads and more. Build projects with Circuit Playground in a few minutes with the drag-and-drop MakeCode programming site, learn computer science using the CS Discoveries class on code.org, jump into CircuitPython to learn Python and hardware together, TinyGO, or even use the Arduino IDE. Circuit Playground Express is the newest and best Circuit Playground board, with support for CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. It has a powerful processor, 10 NeoPixels, mini speaker, InfraRed receive and transmit, two buttons, a switch, 14 alligator clip pads, and lots of sensors: capacitive touch, IR proximity, temperature, light, motion and sound. A whole wide world of electronics and coding is waiting for you, and it fits in the palm of your hand.

  1. Interesting hack (SMA is fun!), but why? Are the normal feeder mechanisms not working well?

  2. @Solarbotics: I believe you’ve got those things flipped around… the SMA is performing that task just to provide a visual demonstration of the fact that it can, not to demonstrate a task at which it’s better than previous methods…

That being said, can I immediately purchase a fairly large amount of this SMA? I have known that a “memory material” was the missing ingredient for something I’ve long wanted to create but never came up with an alternative technique that used only components that were actually available (in my orbit, being a person with a strange deficiency when it comes to hands-on technical tasks, regardless of whether I could parse them adequately in a computerized abstraction hehe). I’m lucky enough to have a couple of friends and collaborators who are proficient in electronics nowadays so I hope your answer is, “follow this link and hit add to cart.”
