Robotics
With microcontroller brains, servo muscles, and wire veins, robots can take a plethora of forms. Some are shaped like cars; equipped with wheels, lights, and sensors. Some are shaped like people; with arms and legs. Some are shaped like spiders! No matter what shape they are, they are in motion and often even autonomous. Robots are all around us, moving products through warehouses, building cars, sorting foods, and sitting on the shelves at toy stores. People have been building robots for many years, since before digital electronics even existed. Over the years there have been so many variations, we can't even keep track. New ideas are happening every day. Maybe you've built something new. Maybe you've re-created a steam powered robot! Whatever form your robot took, we thought it was worthy of a Robotics badge!
A Special Note from Ladyada & the Adafruit Team
During the process of building this learning pet, RobotGrrl picked up several tricks and methods that she gladly shares with the world in this instructable. Not only does she cover the basics of making a robot function, she goes through the entire process of making the articulated frame out of popsicle sticks, the skin out of felt, and putting it all together nicely. We really enjoyed the pleasant simplicity the final RoboBrrd conveys, but more importantly, we like what RobotGrrl really wants to do in the future. She says she would really like to develop these that can be used teaching aids in classrooms. The students would build them, and in the process learn about different aspects of construction and electronics. You know we fully support helping people learn, so this is particularly fantastic to us.
