Full-time Toy Electronics Engineer

at Vicarious Visions in New York

Building on the momentum of the billion dollar Activision Skylanders franchise (www.skylanders.com) and the Vicarious Visions upcoming Skylanders Swap Force 2013 release (www.skylanders.com/swapforce/), Vicarious Visions seeks a highly creative toy electronics engineer to collaborate with video game artists and designers to imagine, prototype, and deliver the next generation of toy/game magic for the Skylanders franchise. This person is principally responsible for identifying and applying relevant trending electronics technologies to create a unique, fun, and compelling experience. Duties • Actively brainstorm with team members from various video game development disciplines to imagine various possibilities, develop prototypes, accept feedback, capture the magic and deliver it economically to a mass youth game market. • Own and drive all aspects of the toy electronics. Provide the team with numerous possibilities based on trending technologies for consideration as the toy design is evolving. • Contribute to the creation of prototypes or models. • Test prototypes for feasibility in terms of human factors, function, reliability, aesthetics, safety and fun. • Minimize product costs related to parts and manufacturing. • Communicate and collaborate with all stake holders across Activision to insure final product is launched on time and on budget. Requirements • Self-directed, innovative tinkerer with demonstrated understanding and application of a variety of small scale, trending, electronics technologies suitable for inclusion in children’s toys. Experience in consumer product or toy industry preferred. • Familiarity with analog and digital electronics • Gamer of any stripe with a passion for making fun. • Hands on creative problem solving skills. Electro-mechanical abilities necessary to create working prototypes and models including circuit construction and soldering. • Ability to work effectively and deliver results in a dynamic and active team environment.
