I am a graduate of the Univeristy of Wisconsin Platteville with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering. My emphases were Communication/Analog, Controls, and Digital Electronics though I am familiar with Power concepts as well such as AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC techniques. I have over 3 years experience doing R&D and prototype work and a year doing PLC, HMI, and wiring and cabinet design work.
I currently do embedded software and hardware design, mostly with Atmel microcontrollers but also with ST Micro ARM M3 cores. I work with Zigbee, Bluetooth, Wifi, and sub Ghz RF modules. I also do some Windows interfacing with VB and Java and phone interfacing with Android. I've coordinated a few projects through FCC and CE testing. I do a little bit of everything but currently focus on new capability design and demonstration, and user interface design for motion control devices.
Programs I am familiar with and use often:
Mentor Graphics PADS PCB Design Tools - for schematic design and layout
Autocad and Draftsight - mostly for enclosure designs
Eclipse IDE - Java and Android development
Visual Studio - VB and C# development
Codevision - Embedded C for Atmel Micros
IAR Studio - Embedded C for Arm
MS Office Suite - daily non development tasks
GIMP - image manipulation and custom QR code creation for work
My ideal position would be embedded software and hardware design for a fast growing, energetic, and hobbyist friendly company with an arm to community outreach and teaching. I love spending time at my local hackerspace and helping people with electronics projects. My passion is for new user interfaces and artificial sensory experiences (like haptic feedback).
Contact me for more information or some examples of my work.
