This is a barebones programmer, for people who want to get into microcontroller programming 'on the cheap'. Plugs into your serial port and is supported by popular programmers such as PonyProg, AVRDUDE (included with avr-gcc), uisp, etc. Usually called a "DASA" serial port programmer. Uses the standard 10 pin AVR pinout. Is not self-powered, you must provide ~3-5V to the circuit in order to program the chip.
