Question about the new Miniature WiFi (802.11b/g/n) Module: Beagle Bone + Raspberry Pi

Is this new USB WiFi adapter substantially different from the previous one? I'm using the previous one? They look similar but the brand seem to be different. I've been using the older one fairly successfully on my Pi boards. Just curious what's new with it.

lower price
pretty much the same - the range is a bit "better", we do not know the exact amount of "better", only it was better, scanned more networks, seemed to go further.
