Symbiote Spider-Man Costume

Spider-Man Symbiote Cosplay 1

Spider-Man traditionally wears a blue and red costume and has for many decades, but it does change from time to time. He donned the Symbiote costume, also known as the black suit, for a while, and cosplayer Brandon Gilbert made an impressive version of it. With the help of the invaluable website The Replica Props Forum, Gilbert found a pattern he liked and used Photoshop to modify the pieces of the costume to feature the black and white Symbiote motif. He sent his pattern off to Fabric on Demand and got it printed on Polyester Lycra Spandex.

Once the fabric arrived, Gilbert took on an incredibly tedious task. See all those raised honeycombs in the below picture? He added those by hand with Tulip Puffy paint in black. He ended up going through five bottles of the paint, and it’s easy to see why. He did this with every piece of the pattern before sewing the suit together. The work paid off because all those honeycombs make the suit pop and sell the Spidey look. Wow.
