Classes Are Coming! Do You Have Enough 3D Filament to Print Your Homework? #backtoschool #3DThursday #3DPrinting

3FilamentSpools

Hey kiddies! It’s back-to-school-time again, and you know what that means! Time to stock up on all the 3D printer filament that you will be needing all semester long for all of the printing for your math, history, science, soft robotics, interactive design, archaeology, molecular gastronomy, biohacking, art, statistics, and industrial design classes….

Well, while I might be dreaming my way a little too far into the future, those students and educators in your life who will be making 3D printing a serious part of their classroom, laboratory, workshop or even recreational experience this year will be really grateful for more of the fuel they need to keep printing all the things!

Why this filament over all the other options?

We sampled filaments from dozens of trusted 3D filament suppliers and tested them on our fleet of 3D printers. Several options worked well enough, but we found that Ultimachine’s range of plastics were the most consistently reliable in terms of printing and spooling, and we have switched to using Ultimachine filament to print all of the Adafruit weekly projects. The materials they offer are high-grade and rarely clog!

  • Consistent and reliable for printing, diameter, and color.
  • Free of imperfections and additives that might clog nozzles.
  • Each spool arrives sealed in a plastic bag with desiccants to protect against humidity.
  • Nicely shipped, packaged, spooled — no knots or tangles.
  • Spool size and mounting slot compatible with a wide range of 3D printers.

PLA note: The raw material used to produce the Ultimachine PLA filament are Natureworks PLA4043D Ingeo resins, created from corn grown in the United States. The pigments used in these filaments are also bio-friendly and formulated specifically to suit PLA.

Looking beyond ABS? Tired of PLA? It’s time to get flexible!

Open a world of possibilities, limited only by your imagination. NinjaFlex, a cutting-edge filament for 3D printers, is a specially formulated thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) that produces flexible prints with elastic properties. Patent pending technology allows for smooth feeding and clean, high-quality printed parts. NinjaFlex’s unique flexibility and smooth feeding characteristics enable you to create in ways you never thought possible. (read more)
