nudge is a mechatronic drum beater designed to retain the simplicity of traditional solenoid mechatronic drum beaters but to afford composers additional expressive parameters.
able to rotate its drumstick and adjust its at-rest height above the drum head, nudge can be used to create rhythmic patterns difficult or impossible with other single-solenoid drum beaters. powered by a midi-equipped microcontroller attached to solenoid drivers and a motor driver, a closed-loop control system is employed to allow nudge to repeatably rotate to user-specified positions above one or more percussive objects
