If you’re dressing as Daenerys Targaryen, there’s no prop quite like a dragon or a dragon egg. Dragons are part of the Targaryen’s house sigil, and Dany is given a trio of them as a wedding present in the first season of Game of Thrones and in the first book of A Song of Ice and Fire. Most cosplayers who have made replicas of the eggs have used clay, but Imgur user gregur used metal tacks.
He used a 4×4 to create the basic shape of the egg and purchased 1,000 thumb tacks. He heated the thumb tacks with a small propane powered forge and used a vegetable can to hold them. A propane torch can be used if you don’t have access to a forge. After heating the tacks to give them different colors, he layered them on the wood to look like scales. The result is beautiful.
