Makercamp

Tommy Amely shared a fun laser cut skill badge series that they are creating for their maker camp — we love skill badges, and these are really sharp!

We came up with a pretty cool idea for the maker camps we are holding and thought you all might find this cool. The idea is to make merit-style badges for when they complete certain things along the week. Check out some of the first few we have come up with. The top-left is “conductive sewing”, to its’ right is “lighting an LED”, below that is “MODKIT programming. At the very right is “MakeyMakey” (Makey^2) and the one on the bottom left is the “lightning pig”… It’s for my father-in-law who burnt a rack of ribs so bad it looked like it was struck by lightning. So the idea is that we will have a pin backing glued to the back. We will be making more and if we find free time will get around to sharing the vector files. Please feel free to steal this idea(not really a new idea) or pass it on to fellow Makers! (read more)

widgetninja shared a walnut enclosure he created for his class D stereo amp board on the Adafruit Forums:

There has been some conversations around the house that we should have music upstairs. So this board + an old ebay purchased airport express should do the trick nicely. So board in hand, it needed a box. I always skimp on the box, but in this case the board was pre-manufactured so I could afford to put some energy into its home. I haven’t done anything with any hardwoods on the CNC yet, and I had some walnut I got from a friend when he moved. So I set about making a box. I have no jointer, so surfacing with the CNC, using a 1″ bit. …Overall a fun project, and I learned how nice walnut is to work with. I also finished an amplifier project, that i started over 20 years ago! (read more)
