Impressive Phoenix Force Costume

Jean Grey has always been more than capable and a formidable opponent, but she becomes extra fierce in Marvel’s Avengers Alliance game. As cosplayer Yaya Han points out, Phoenix finally gets some real armor! She liked the design so much she had to make the costume. She used Worbla for the shoulder pauldrons and the chest piece:

I concentrated on the armor first. I made a pattern for the chest piece by measuring and drawing out pieces on paper, then fitting and altering them until I was happy with the pattern. Same for the shoulder pauldrons. Using the paper patterns, I made the pieces out of Worbla with foam in between each base layer. Using the Phoenix bird theme as inspiration, I added stylized design details to the armor for more texture and depth, then primed and painted all the pieces.

I sewed the bodysuit from 2 different types of stretch pleather, adding design seams and quilted satin top stitched lines according to the design. I altered the boots and gloves, made all the straps with buckles, and also sewed the sash. The wig is from Arda Wigs, which I styled.
