Speaking of the everyday object made up from unexpected materials, these butterflies by artist Michael Crowder have the delicacy of the real animal, but are made up tiny shards of glass glued together, a technique developed in 18th century France known as “pâte de verre.” The butterflies and their chrysalises are on display at Houston’s Wade Wilson Art through this Friday, October 25th.
