Crossing snails with LED throwies for science

Takeaway numbers: A snail moves about a meter per hour, and one can cover your garden (“an average British garden”) in one night.

Researchers from the Ecology department at the University of Exeter tracked the activity of 450 garden snails using LED lights, UV paints, and time-lapse photography in a bid to discover the ways in which lungworm infections are spread from snails to dogs.
