CAPPY the CAPACITOR tryouts at Adafruit (video)

Cappy740-1

The Adafruit team is getting ready to film the next episode of “Circuit Playground, C is for Capacitor”. Previous episodes included: “A is for Ampere” and “B is for Battery” – as we move through A to Z of electronics, we are introducing new characters we think you will love. Meet Cappy!

Cappy is the de facto leader of the group. He is always coming up with crazy schemes. A running joke is that his capacitance value changes depending on his mood. Cappy speaks in a West County English accent (a traditional ‘pirate’ accent). His catchphrase is “smooth sailing.”

Adafruit is filled with artists, musicians, engineers, crafters, writers and even puppeteers – so for each character we have open tryouts within the company, it’s a fun process and we wanted to share this with you. Enjoy!

We were recently approached by TV network(s) to do the show just for TV but we decided we want to do this ourselves and produce it for you with just the Adafruit team. As services like YouTube are used more and more (and on TV) we know the show is viewed on many TVs now!

We will announce the role of Cappy this week on ASK AN ENGINEER at 10pm ET on Saturday night! Cappy is also one of our Circuit Playground plushie characters if you know a young engineer that would like one.

  1. Tom did an admiral job – but I think at least one character should have a Scottish engineer accent, whether it be Cappy or another. It would make Montgomery Scott proud.
