We’ve updated the BeagleBone Python IO library to include support for I2C. This is the same library that was written by Kevin Townsend for the Raspberry Pi, so your code should be fairly portable. In fact, the few libraries we spot tested in our Adafruit-Raspberry-Pi-Python-Code repository worked just fine on the BeagleBone Black (not all have been tested yet…). Neat!
The installation instructions have a new mini-guide on how to use the new I2C module. In addition, we’ve added new installation instructions that should make it easier to install and upgrade. You can now use ‘pip install Adafruit_BBIO’ to install the library once you have the dependencies installed.
If you run into any issues using any of the modules (GPIO, PWM, ADC, and I2C) please file an issue on our GitHub issue tracker.
