Ladyada on the #firesidehangout  with the President. She suggested:

  1. Education – National effort to make learning a computer programming language a requirement for high schoolers.
  2. Patent reform – Stopping patent trolls, specifically software patents and limiting software patents to 5 years.
  3. For the “get to know the prez question” She asked if the President’s daughters have thought about a career in science / engineering.

Thank you everyone for the support and kind words for our Ladyada. We’re all exhausted here and are going to take the night off, what a fantastic Valentine’s day :) Once the video is posted we’ll post it up here and on the Adafruit Industries blog. It should be on the Whitehouse YouTube video page shortly.

  1. Ladyada,

I was referred to your webpage by the folks at raspberry pi, and am trying to teach my autistic son some programming. Congratulations on your Entrepreneur Of The Year award! I am thrilled to see what you are doing to bring programming and tech to girls. I wish I had a daughter so my wife and I could introduce her to the “magical” wearable blinkies you showcase!
Love the “Bill and Ted’s” comment policy, as much as the “Prove you are human by reading this resistor” test! Your website made my day! Well done, and carry on!
