Check out this project putting a Raspberry Pi to use as a WordPress server. After sharing an initial post discussing the basics of configurartion, he launched a link to it on Hacker News to see how the site would handle heavy usage and probing. Here he documents how the server did, what he learned:
On Friday I submitted a link on Hacker News to my first post on this blog, announcing that I had set up a WordPress blog site on my Pi. I was surprised when it actually reached the front page and peaked out at number four on the list. Of course, this created a substantial amount of traffic and gave me an opportunity to test the performance of my little server. I’m happy to say that it did remarkably well!
You can review the webalizer stats for the day here.
The link was posted on Hacker News at about 9am Eastern time and lasted on the front page until about 11pm Eastern time. 14 hours of Hacker News front page action was worth about 7,400 unique visitors and 6,100 referral links from news.ycombinator.com. The rest were mostly from Twitter and j.mp.
