Makey Makey and Raspberry Pi Halloween Sound Board #makeymakey #makeymakeymonday

There’s several things going on in this video. First, the box is something I built to allow me to quickly hook things up to all 18 of the MaKey MaKey inputs. The binding posts take bare wire, banana clips, or alligator clips.

Inside the box, the Makey Makey is attached to a Raspberry Pi, using the default Debian install.

I modified the Makey Makey sketch to turn all 18 inputs into letter keys on the keyboard, using instructions available from here. I did this to make the Raspberry Pi scripting more straightforward.

For the Pi, I’m using code available from Dale Thatcher.

  1. Hey, thanks for linking to my video. I ended up hooking up the thing to 18 pumpkins and let the neighborhood kids trigger sound effects and drum sounds. It was a hit!
