As we re-boot and get back to business after being without power, net, heat, etc for the last week. We’ll do a series of posts about what we’re doing to not only help our employees displaced by Sandy but what we’re doing in the local area and NYC to help people and businesses. One employee is going to stay at another place for a bit, their apartment might not be habitable for awhile, we’re going to cover the rent for them while they get back on their feet with a new place – all employees, hourly and part time are getting paid for the week we were out as well. We had one new person who was going to start on Monday of last week but could not, we’re going to give them a week’s pay so they don’t need to worry about any bills piling up.
On a more tasty note – One of the hardest hit types of business around here in NYC were the restaurants, we’re trying to see which ones could use a boost as we work some late hours and get delivery or stop in. We’ll try and see who needs some business in our area and post about them here too.

Definitely agree with David – it seems like so many companies these days see employees as just tools to finish the job.
Great to see that Adafruit has the same standards as the fortune 500 companies.

I want to work for you guys! I would love to have you as a boss, Lady Ada! Do you need a Mechanical Engineering Intern this summer? I would be so proud to be able to put that on my resume.

Moser, most Fortune 500 companies have horrible policies toward their employees, I wouldn’t compare Adafruit’s compassion to them at all!
I don’t mind getting my order late, knowing that Adafruit is putting it’s people first and supporting their employees. Thanks and hope all goes well.

+10 on the awesome support of your employees. That’s so rare these days… My normally pegged cynicism factor is hereby temporarily reduced by 20dB. I’m already seeing the changes being indicated in my telemetry…
Adafruit Rocks! I’ll be ordering some stuff over the next couple days that I don’t really NEED but that I WANT, in support of your recent wx-related misfortunes. E.g. I’ve always wanted to build a MintyBoost! I know I have an original Altoids gum tin around here somewhere…
