NEW PRODUCTS! – Mini DC/DC Step-Down (Buck) Converter – 3.3V @ 1A output – TSR12433 & Mini DC/DC Step-Down (Buck) Converter – 5V @ 1A output – TSR12450. Your power supply problems just got SOLVED! These DC/DC converter step-down switching regulators are drop-in replacements for inefficient 78xx linear regulators. The little module may look tiny but inside is a high efficiency converter (up to 91%) which can output 1 Amp at 3.3V with up to +60°C ambient temperature without the need of any heat-sink or forced cooling (for the 5V version … up to 94% – which can output 1 Amp at 5V with up to +60°C ambient temperature without the need of any heat-sink or forced cooling).

  1. This looks like the Cadillac of voltage regulators. My next project may well include some of these — the $15 price isn’t so high when set against the labor cost of me assembling my own on a protoboard. It’s also a lot smaller than anything I’d build. Thank you, Adafruit, for bringing this tech to my attention!

  2. Very very cool. I had been shopping around for a Buck converter to run a Raspberry Pi board from a cordless drill battery, and the 5-volt guy looks better than anything I saw at Digikey. Thank you.
