José Manuel Hermo Barreiro, “Patelo”, is a pensioner from Galicia (Spain). He’s a retired naval mechanic and he has built the smallests engines in the world. This is his story.
Looks like he was powering them with steam.

Right. No spark plugs? If they were really internal combustion, they’d be LOUD. Even a one cylinder model airplane engine is pretty ear-splitting at close range.
