ASK AN EDUCATOR “What undergraduate majors are encompassed by STEM?”

An answer to your question! #15

Stephanie asks:

I would like to print a list of the undergraduate majors that make up each STEM category. Where can I find this information?

Interesting question! Typically the STEM acronym is attached to the promotion of science, technology, engineering and math education in K-12, but most certainly extends to the college level. This fact has been one of the major talking points pertaining to the high need for American graduates to fulfill positions in STEM careers and as TIME Magazine bleakly stated that

confused statistics, and force of habit doesn’t mean there isn’t an actual STEM problem facing the United States. American students should be doing better in math and science than they are now, and we are arguably producing too few college STEM majors.

But, to answer your question, DHS (the Department of Homeland Security?) has a up-to-date LIST of STEM-Designated Degree Programs.
