Another long night for the Adafruit Elves, patiently picking apart the latest “Don’t Ask, It’s Not Out Yet”.
I’m often curious how other people in big cities make the most of their typically limited home working space. Personally I like working at home. Easy access to Diet Coke, my favorite tea, and a lethargic Shetland warming my feet beneath my desk … nice benefits to have this very cold feeling winter. I try to make the most of every meter of my limited workspace (Paris is hardly the cheapest place to live), but there are times when it’s just tough to do the tasks at hand with 0.5m² of uncluttered work space at your disposal. I’ll be moving myself in the coming months and will also get a dedicated office (since eating beside a pick and place sounds cool, but really just isn’t) … but every engineer and serious hobbiest still needs a little workbench somewhere at home for those late nights hacking away at something. I’m always curious to see other people’s personal workspace, so why not post some links to your own in the comments below!

My workbench is also my ham shack, my home office, my entertainment centre, and (with a darkbag) my darkroom. It also frequently serves as my diningroom table.

After scratching the kitchen table with errant PCB component pins, my wife advised me to make this work surface:

What I really like on this is the “papa et maman je vous aime”

I have a little more room than the photo above, but I’ve got a lot more test gear in that space:

Looks very much like my own office – I live in Paris too, actually! No Pick’n'place at home, though…

I love to see how other makers arrange their workplace – it is very inspiring. Maybe the Adafruit team could collect them in a separate photostream, like the site http://www.whereiwrite.org/ (whereihack?)

my bench (annotated image): http://www.flickr.com/photos/46580576@N07/6391121531/in/pool-1767402@N25/ Although I bought the Rigol scope before Adafruit started carrying it, I love that scope! Great value for the money.
