EEBookshelf: The Datasheet Datasheet

Mystified by the sea of abbreviations in that otherwise informative looking datasheet or app note?  Then you may find the equally cryptically named SZZA036B exactly what you need (AKA: “Understanding and InterpretingStandard-Logic Data Sheets“).

It’s the datasheet datasheet from TI!

While it does still assume some understanding of electronics, this handy little application report gives explanations of most of the common terms that you’ll come across reading other datasheets, app notes, user manuals, etc.  Think of it like TI’s attempt and an EE Rosetta Stone.  What the heck is a Schottky Clamping Diode?  p.20!  Tsu and Th (setup time and hold time)? p.55.  It’s not exciting cover to cover reading, but if you’re trying to decipher a cryptic datasheet this wonderful app report contains a lot of information in a comparitively concise package.  Grab it now!
