Amanda ‘w0z’ Wozniak: Open-Sourcing the Engineering Process — #ohsummit

Awesome engineer and Adafruit BFF Amanda ‘w0z’ Wozniak gave this great presentation Thursday at the 2011 Open Hardware Summit. In the talk, she discusses the design process as a critical subject of project documentation. Sharing the end project (and the related design files) is not enough. In order for people to really learn from what you’ve done (and/or support it after you’ve moved on), folks need to understand the choices you made, and your methodology for making those choices — in other words, the process. It’s a valid point, and one worth thinking about. So often the choices we make are only represented by the ends, but that’s not the whole story.

You can check out the slideshow PDF here. It’s annotated with a transcript of the talk — look for the speech bubble in the upper left-hand corner.
