ASK AN ENGINEER – TONIGHT 10PM ET! SATURDAY 8/27/2011…

What is “Ask an engineer”? From the electronics enthusiast to the professional community – “Ask an Engineer” has a little bit of everything for everyone. If you’re a beginner, or a seasoned engineer – stop in and see what we’re up to! We have demos of projects and products we’re working on, we answer your engineering and electronics questions and we have a trivia question + give away each week. Mosfet the cat stops by too. Previous chats can be viewed at http://www.adafruit.com/ask

Did you know we’ve been doing the show since AUGUST of 2009? That’s right, ASK AN ENGINEER has been around for two years, this is our 2 year anniversary!

By popular demand – “Ask an engineer” with special guest Amanda “w0z” Wozniak. w0z was on a few previous shows (our most info-packed ones so far) – and she designed the MONOCHRON clock enclosure. W0z also designed the very popular and amazing DefCon Ninja Party Badges. W0z is a staff Electrical Engineer at Wyss Institute and formerly an applications Engineer at Analog Devices. This will be a great show, you’ll need to watch it many times at half-speed just to keep up as w0z drops knowledge bombs on us.

And don’t forget, 30 minutes before the show we’re doing a show-and-tell via Google+ hangouts.

  1. don’t you have to evacuate?

  2. Re: Power…

You are primarily doing this from a MacBook Pro, and a USB webcam, right? So – built-in uninterruptible power supply there…

Your network connection is a cable modem, IIRC… what’s it’s input power requirement? 5 volts? 12? Do you have the parts there to rig up a battery power solution for it?

Of course, this does assume that the cable modem packet relays on the cable company side stay up if the power goes out (i.e, that they are on an UPS).

In any case – stay safe; we all want you to live to hack another day! :)

P.S. – I still wanna see a photo of MOSFET in his life vest! ;)

  3. You guys stay safe!…if it doesn’t happen because of the storm I hope you re-sked it…love the Woz!..

  4. Hope you guys and Adafruit make it through safe and sound.

Our thoughts are with you. :)
