PART FINDER FRIDAY – The venerable 7805!

The lowely 780x, the mule of power supplies! This guy does the heavy lifting in so many designs. Sure the drop-out is a crummy 2V, there’s no enable/disable pin, they draw 5mA quiescent and they need fairly large stabilization capacitors but they are REALLY CHEAP and they can handle up to 35VDC. Pick up a bunch of them in TO-220 or TO-92 from your favorite distributor.
