  1. Certainly looks like a good place to start with FPGAs. Low cost too which is a great bonus. You can get them from the main site (http://www.gadgetfactory.net/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1&zenid=1dd774d142b15e3ffdc366eec7371ab1), although I’m pretty sure I have seen them else where if you are looking for somewhere more local.

  4. I’ve been working with GadgetFactory’s Papilio One and a number of their wings since January. I’ve tried only a few other FPGA boards, but I’ve made the best progress learning VHDL and Verilog with the Papilio. Other boards gave me that “what next” feeling. I think, for me, the wings are what make this board so attractive. I’ve found that the Digilent P/Mods work well with the P1 too, connecting them via jumpers. Digilent has some really nice boards as well, but it’s hard to beat GadgetFactory’s prices.
