I want to say “you guys (girls) are great!). I’m a 39 year old son of a Johnson Controls engineer and grandson of a RCA engineer that grew up on “heathkits” instead of baseball. I collect Popular Mechanics from the 40′s on. The DIY garage inventors of yesteryear kinda died out in the 80′s. I remember fondly of typing in hundreds of line of basic to only spend 10x the time to debut to get a poor game at best. It seemed the interest was lost for about 20 year. I guess many of our engineers (and me) lost interest once America was outsourced. Proprietary software replaced shareware and open source became nothing but software on a machine. That was until I saw an ad that changed my life. It was the eggbot! Yes, a simple toy made by a DIY by Bruce Shapiro made me think the world is a better place. Then I hit Makers fair in San Mateo and bought an Arduino, from there I found Adafruit Industries. The options are countless. I couple of ideas I’m working on is first a home automation system. I’m going to prototype some touch screens stuff for that, secondly I was looking at ways to create one of those radar speed signs…just wanted to say thanks – Daniel.
