
Benoît Mandelbrot – incredible mind.
Benoît B. Mandelbrot (20 November 1924 – 15 October 2010) was a French and American mathematician, best known as the father of fractal geometry. He was Sterling Professor of Mathematical Sciences, Emeritus at Yale University; IBM Fellow Emeritus at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center; and Battelle Fellow at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

Um, is there any confirmation of this? Looking at the history for that Wikipedia page makes me think someone’s just messing around….
