How to Prank a Nobel Laureate

Ok, it’s name dropping time.

Penn & Teller are enlisted by their friends Dennis Ritchie and Rob Pike to play an elaborate prank on their boss, Arno Penzias.

  1. Ah. From 1990 (or earlier); no wonder the computer side of the prank seemed rather … lame. 25MHz 486 cpus were all the rage…

  2. The Cray was unavailable.

  3. You could do a version of that now, all you’d have to do is to raise the bar on what the voice recognition was supposed to be able to do. Say that it was an improved technology for national security or whatever.

  4. Dennis Kernighan listed as a gaffer in the credits.. nice!

  5. *Brian* Kernighan, completing the K&R team.

Not to mention Ken Thompson on software. A fair number of other lesser yet still famous software lights in the credits too.
