  1. Truth.

  2. WHAT? The choice was between an FPGA and Arduino?
The platform is nice and all, but really, it’s just a friendly bootloader & board for that very popular MCU.

Now I understand the sudden violent reactions of some people to mentions of “Arduino”, they need to turn the marketing down a notch.

  3. @hn – this is not “arduino marketing” it’s a comic someone made describing how *they* felt about arduino, there’s no excuse for violent reactions to something like that.

  4. Hack a Day would love this… Is it a coincidence that the guy’s shirt has a skull on it?

  5. With the Arduino, you don’t have to worry about programming?

  6. Sure you do, but when don’t you don’t have to worry about programming a microcontroller ?

Yet the Arduino and its many clones out there are great little tools for ‘kicking around’ a circuit or taking care of those late night ‘What if’ moments.

And from my own personal experience it has brought the ‘fun’ back in to this hobby for me.

  7. While I like the Arduino, and have used it several times myself, most modern microcontrollers are pretty cheap, easy to program, and easy to acquire. Arduino is probably *easier* in each of those categories, and is a wonderful tool for beginners or for simpler projects, but it’s certainly not as powerful. And while the Arduino can be fun, I still really love the guts of the Arduino better than the Arduino iteself. Give me an AVR, baby! :)
