Eggplant posted up in our forums about the Ice Tube clock kit and included a great photo!
Just completed. Worked first time, no issues, and I’m quite a novice at soldering. Fantastic kit! Everything fit together beautifully, and the instructions were clear. I especially appreciate the mid-build tests.

I need to order one of these – I don’t have a decent clock in my office, it’s both beautiful and hackable.
Also, I want to reiterate – the mid-build tests are awesome, at least based on my experience with the Fuzebox kit. Hardware debugging is an art and it’s hard to learn without a mentor. Taking time to stop, test, and verify hardware subsystems are working helps ensure kits are successfully built, making for happy customers. It also teaches some debugging techniques (why is the kit assembled in this order? What do I look for to verify it’s working? What do I check if it isn’t?) Finally, the incremental approach to construction lets the builder see which parts of a circuit perform a particular function. What are the essential pieces of power supply – filters, regulators, etc? It’s hard to overestimate both the importance and quality of the kits’ instructions, both as construction guidance and as a learning tool for construction, testing, and design.
