“Ask an engineer chat” 10pm ET tonight 10-17-2009!

Pt 2239
Tonight is our weekly “Ask an engineer chat” 10pm ET. Stop in, our pick and place machine arrived so we will do a quick tour of it pre-activation and “assembly”. We’re in the process of finding the best table for it, so far we’re leaning towards this one… We may also have some photos from the NYC Big Apple ComicCon to share.

Chat details!

  • Visit our new “chat” section on Adafruit at 10pm ET – 10/17/2009
  • Or visit our Ustream page
  • For old schoolers, you can use IRC, you’ll need a Ustream log/pass, check out the Ustream IRC how-tos here and here
  • We are #adafruit-industries6796 on IRC server chat1.ustream.tv
  • There will be a trivia question at the end of the night as always!
  • Lastly, if anyone can save a log we’d appreciate it

  1. I don’t know about that machine specifically but a lot of the time you need access to all four sides of the equipment too. Something else to consider.

  2. I hope you are considering how stable the table is for shaking, not just weight. That table looks “spindly”.

Can’t you find a buddy with some welding equipment? Build a table to fit with 3″ square steel legs and some cross bracing. A couple cans of Krylon spray paint. Bolt the PnP down. You’ll be all set!

I’d heartily agree with 3-4mm RHS welded together to make a custom table with brackets to you can use some masonary fixings or roofing screws to anchor it to the floor. If it needs to be precise you’ll cut errors but anchoring it and getting it dead level before you mount the machine to it.

  4. silicon/jon, we’re sure our landlord would love that we bolted a table to the nice wood floors!

if you guys want to weld up a table, spray paint it, and ship it here to manhattan, we’d appreciate it!
