Schools (wanna) be jammin’

Looks like a school in Iowa wants to jam the cell phones of students

Ooh, yeah! All right!
We’re jammin‘:
I wanna jam it wid you.
We’re jammin’, jammin’,
And I hope you like jammin’, too.

Ain’t no rules, ain’t no vow, we can do it anyhow:
I’n'I will see you through,
‘Cos everyday we pay the price with a little sacrifice,
Jammin’ till the jam is through

ST. ANSGAR, Iowa (AP) – School officials in St. Ansgar in northeast Iowa are considering buying equipment to jam cell phone signals if they can do so legally.

  3. The FCC does not need to allow this… As now the school is going to take the responsibility if something happens to where there is an emergency. Also being a ham radio operator I just don’t like the idea of the FCC saying that you can’t communicate in certain locations. As I am the last line when all communications for the public fails and I would be upset if I was put in an unacceptable risk zone. This is the school just being lazy and needs strict policy on cell phones. Just take them away and not give them back, the parents pay for most and will solve the problem if they have to keep kicking out money for a new sidekick every week. Oh and then they can donate the phones they collect to battered lady shelters or other non profits… recycle stupidity….
