We visited the NYC Zine Fest ’09 at the Brooklyn Lyceum – one of the most interesting and “old school” forms of publishing. What zines’ did you grow up with, make or know about? Post up in the comments!
oh man zines, the best form of publishing ever. I read more zines per year than any other medium, maybe even more than blogs. The SF zine fest is always great! i want more electronics zines though, i’v been working on an idea for a while called “expect resistance” which would be a quick how to for beginner solderers.
Looks like a lot of fun. Working on my zine, Going Gaga: Artinformationoise, was one of the great high points of my life. It’s basically how/why I became a writer, how I hooked up with Boing Boing and Mondo 2000, and where I found many of the close friends I still hang out with today. What’s not to love? Nice to see that people are still producing ‘em.

I also contribute to hack this zine: http://hackbloc.org/zine and Slingshot! http://slingshot.tao.ca, which has a groovy organizer every year!
