I used to like Instructables, but they’re getting more and more annoying with their “members only zomg!” stuff. I don’t see why I should have to create an account just to view the photos attached to a project.

yeah i feel the same way, stopped using them after requiring a login to view all steps on one page business. Practically speaking I would rather write my own instruction that is in a format that I know won’t annoy people even it means *much* less exposure.
With that said I’m still glad the site exists because I used it recently to help me with a DIY project at home.
