Not too long ago there was an xkcd comic featuring the Kindle, we knew someone would eventually laser etch a new Kindle 2 but we didn’t expect it to be us! Here’s the first ever laser etched Kindle 2! Sean brought his over to the shop today and we “experimented”. We used 80% power and 100% speed on our Epliog 35W laser, the laser burned off a thin layer of metal and the results look great.

Better yet, get the fellow’s permission and print the proof of Fermat’s last theorem in the -margin- of the back, adding that there is no such thing as blinker fluid, and maybe throw an embellished copy of Maxwell’s Equations front and center. Maybe “Click Elsewhere to make Occam’s Razor Your Friend.” Handy reference while reading the front!

amazing idea, but really, you had to use that typeface?
a nice bold sans-serif NONSCRIPT typeface would make it perfect.

Just engraved mine with my own epilog laser (Don’t ask why I have one). I used a bold font for my don’t panic, and it came out great. Just used the powers (power 80 speed 100) above. Will post link to pictures soon. Thanks guys

Oh, and the powers are the same for a 30 watt as well.
