Adding RFID to a Boarduino

boarduinorfid.jpg

Awesome-pants Joe Grand designed the Parallax RFID reader, an easy way to add RFID reading to any electronics project. Maybe you want to plug it into a project with your Boarduino? Well, Johannes Otto did, and it works great!

Check out his flickr photoset and then download the code from Erik Sjodin’s site. Now get spime’ing!

  1. Did this with a barebones arduino over a year ago. Joe’s RFID reader really is top notch. Lost my code since then, but it allowed you to hold down a momentary switch to scan the RFID source and store it to EEPROM. Future scans of the same RFID source would throw a reed relay. The video below shows the relay lighting a led:

  2. Hi, Where did you get boarduino with USB connection? did you mix a normal boarduino with a Mini USB adapter? It isn’t?
I was trying to do the same thing but with a PIC microcontroler. But I don’t test it yet.
